Thursday 3rd October 2024
On Thursday, our year 4 pupils presented a captivating assembly that truly embodied our school's vision and values. The assembly was a testament to the hard work, creativity, and faith-filled spirit of our pupils. The focal point of the assembly was the story of Abraham.
Our year 4 pupils brought this story to life through a variety of engaging means, including:
Storytelling: The pupils took turns narrating the story of Abraham, captivating the audience with their expressive delivery and attention to detail.
Hymns and Prayers: The assembly featured a wonderful selection of hymns and prayers, showcasing the pupils' beautiful and reverent singing voices. Acting: Certain key moments from the story of Abraham were brought to life through thoughtful and meaningful acting performances by the pupils.
Throughout the assembly, our year 4 pupils demonstrated their commitment to our school's values of Believe, Persevere, Contribute, and Achieve. They believed in their abilities to tell this important story, persevered through any challenges, and contributed their unique talents to create a truly memorable experience for the wider community. The assembly was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our year 4 pupils, as well as the support and guidance of our talented Year 4 staff.
The prayerful and reverent atmosphere of the event was a reflection of our school's strong Catholic ethos and the unwavering faith that underpins all that we do at St. Agnes. We are immensely proud of our year 4 pupils for their outstanding performance and for embodying the values that are at the heart of our school community. Events like this demonstrate the rich and vibrant learning experiences that our pupils enjoy at St. Agnes, and we look forward to many more such inspiring assemblies in the future.
Saint Francis of Assisi Service - 4th October 2024
As a Voluntary Aided Catholic Primary School, St Agnes is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual growth and faith development of our pupils and the wider community. On the memorial of Saint Francis of Assisi, we hosted a special service that celebrated the life and legacy of this beloved saint.
Scriptures and HymnsThe service featured a reading from the Gospel of Matthew, where Jesus instructs his disciples to "Become like little children" (Matthew 18:3-4). This passage reflects Saint Francis' own humble and childlike approach to faith, which inspired him to live a life of simplicity, service, and love.
The hymns selected for the service included "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace" and "Give Me Joy in My Heart," both of which capture the spirit of Saint Francis and his desire to be an instrument of God's peace and joy in the world.
Prayers of the FaithfulThe Prayers of the Faithful focused on the theme of stewardship, as we reflected on Saint Francis' deep reverence for all of God's creation. Pupils from our school's Chaplaincy team led these prayers, inviting the community to join in petitioning for the grace to be faithful stewards of the earth and all its inhabitants.
Musical AccompanimentThe service was accompanied by the soothing sounds of the ukulele, played by our very own Christiana, a talented musician and member of the St Agnes chaplaincy team .
Organised by ChaplainsThis special service was carefully planned and organised by our dedicated Chaplaincy team, who work tirelessly to nurture the spiritual life of our school and foster a deep connection with our Catholic faith.
Reflecting Our Vision and ValuesThrough this Saint Francis of Assisi service, we aim to embody the core values of our school: Believe, Persevere, Contribute, and Achieve. By reflecting on the life and witness of this beloved saint, we are inspired to deepen our own faith, persevere in the face of challenges, and contribute to the betterment of our community and the world around us. In doing so, we will strive to achieve the ultimate goal of living as God would have us live.
