Week beginning 1/2/21

Hello nursery.
It is February already. How the time flies! I wonder if it will be very cold this month, or sunny?
Sadly, we will not see each other again this week, but I know you will be working very hard at home. Keep going, and hopefully we will see each other soon.

Read a story together every day. Your child can choose a favourite story, or you might have a new one you’d like to share with them. As you read, encourage your child to talk about the pictures, and what the characters are doing in the story. If it is a story they know well, they may want to join in with some of the repeated language, or tell you what is going to happen next. 

Encourage your child to draw a picture every day, of whatever they would like to draw. As they draw, remind them to think about the shapes and colours of the things they are drawing. If it is a person or animal, they might need reminding to add all of the body parts, or the correct number of fingers or legs. Your child should also be encouraged to think about background details for their picture. For example, is there a road, or trees? What kind of weather is it? Ask your child to write their name on their work, using their name card to help them.

​Try and get some exercise every day. Maybe you could get a bean bag or soft toy, and practise catching with it. Throw it up, and try and catch it. Not too high!  How many times can you catch it, without dropping it?
