An Update on Reading - myOn

21/10/2020

Picture
Dear Parents,
Thank you for all your support reading with the children. I am having to remind you of the expectations for reading as there is some confusion and discrepancies with the children's reading routines. This at the moment applies to myOn - our online reading library.
  1. The year 3 class aim to read at least 20 minutes per day in school time, logged onto myOn - less if they are completing a quiz or a follow up reading activity. More on this later!
  2. At home, every child should read for at least 20 minutes out of school hours. It is always best if they read to an adult! However, sometimes it is ok to read alone. Please check if they are confident first!
  3. If at home the book is finished within a 20 minute frame or less, then they should remain logged on, read the book again, or flick through the pages with a member of the family and discuss with questions - see our English page. They might like to read it to a sibling! 20 minutes MUST be used to focus on reading.
  4. When they return, to school, they will tell me or Pam all about the book by completing a follow up with a specially focused learning goal! So, for this reason please DO NOT change the book, skip any pages or flick through other titles.
  5. We will complete a quiz!
  6. 80% or more on a quiz? They can choose a new book! 79% or less? I'm sorry! It's best to read the book again and perhaps look at the most difficult pages or least enjoyed pages - again for 20 minutes.
Below, is our routine for your information
Thank you for all your support. Happy reading! 🤩

Homework, Week beginning 19th October

19/10/2020

Hello!😁

We made it year 3!
One whole half term together.

I am so proud of your maturity and achievements so far this year. I know it has been hard moving to the juniors. I know it has been hard having to sit still, and adjusting to many changes like less talk and more independence but I want to say - I AM SO PROUD OF YOU! With Jesus, we really are doing our best.

Please keep positive, brush off those anxieties and lets come back even stronger.

Here is your homework this week.
Happy half term. Keep safe.

Mr C 😎
A note to parents/carers: 👪
Parents/carers,
Thank you for your continued support this half term and listening to teacher feedback and for supporting the staff in year 3 with the children's transition to KS2.

It is a big change, and anxiety and confusion is understandable. Rest assured, your children are absolutely nailing year 3! And I am super proud.

Anything you need, please do not hesitated to contact the office who will revert to me
Happy half term.
