Weekly Timetable (18/05/20)

Howdy! 🤠
Hope you're all doing well and staying safe. This will be your last week of home learning (for a while) as next week is half term. Enjoy yourselves, be good and keep dancing!

Using your new knowledge and this handy wesbite: https://gridreferencefinder.com/

try and locate these three key locations in Shakespeare's life:
  • The Globe Theatre
  • Ireland Yard (his London residence)
  • Anne Hathaway's Cottage (Stratford Upon Avon)
If you google Anne Hathaway, be careful not to confuse her with the award-winning actor from the Princess Diaries, Les Miserable and many other great films. (I'll be honest, I was a little perplexed to begin with too!)

NCETM activity (Tuesday)

Picture

This is a regular pentagon. Two angles (108° and 36°) are shown. Which other angles can you work out? Explain your reasoning.

Pentecost

Watch the video below or read the Pentecost story and reflect on it. Imagine you had been a member of the crowd that day and had heard the call.
  • Would you have joined the Disciples on their journey?
  • How would your life have changed as you decided to live together as the new church?
  • What would have been the benefits?
  • What challenges would there be?
  • How did it change you? Why?

The focus of Pentecost is what Jesus taught us about how to be a good friend and repenting from sin.
Why not make a friendship bracelet for a friend that you miss or a paper-chain. Are there any other ways you can think of to show your friendship?

Miss Donnelly's Golden Time

Some nice ideas to get you through the week.

Some hilarious (if I do say so myself) activities to try at home...

  • No Thumbs Challenge: In this challenge, you have to tape your thumbs in a way so that you can’t use them, no matter how much you try. Then, try out a simple task. Go for something funny like trying to eat cereal or putting on clothes. Play with a sibling. The first to complete their task is the winner!
  • Beans and Chopsticks Challenge:  Participants will need chopsticks/fork, beans (or something similar) and an empty container, plate or bowl. Using the chopsticks, transfer the beans from the can into the empty container. The player who transfers the highest number of beans in a minute (or pick your own time) wins.
  • Memory Challenge:  Display some items from around the house on a table or in a tray. Give the contestant a set time to note all of the items. Next, remove some items. See if the contestant can guess correctly what items are missing.
  • 7-second Challenge: For the 7-second challenge, each participant will have seven seconds to complete a task. You can select any task you want, but it has to be a task that can be done in seven seconds. Some examples include: Clapping your right palm on your left thigh and left palm on your right thigh simultaneously 10 times, hopping to the door and back while pulling your two ears or saying, "three grey geese lay grazing in the sun" perfectly 4 times.

Solve this riddle: Where can you find cities, towns, shops, and streets but no people?

PictureMiss Donnelly (and cat) think the way you've laid and cleaned the table is PURRRR-fect and PAW-some!
Your secret challenge this week (ssssh!)
Set and clean the table for dinner daily

Just a quick message to say that I’ve really enjoyed hearing from you all over the last couple of days. 📞 📧

It made my week to hear about all the wonderful things you've been getting up to during quarantine. You've been knitting, sketching, exercising, baking, dyeing hair and even learning new languages!
🐶 🏃‍♀️ 🧁 ✏️

You've all done so amazingly well and to listen to you I could tell how much your oracy has come on. 💬

You are my heroes. It's been a very testing and anxiety-provoking time but you've all been so mature about it. You've persevered, overcame the challenges and carried on! Well done my quaranQUEENS and KINGS!

OGGY OGGY OGGY! OI! OI! OI! 😎😎😎

Hope you're all keeping well and enjoyed your bank holiday weekend. ☀️

I'm sure you all watched the news last night and saw Boris' announcement. We (Y6) were given a special mention and will be one of the first classes to come back to school. In what capacity and what date, I'm not fully sure- we will have to wait and see what June brings. It will be lovely to see you all again. 😌

Also, this week you would have been sitting your much anticipated SATs. Luckily for you, you no longer need to sit them.  YAY! (Although I know you would have smashed them!)  2020 really is the gift that just keeps giving. 🙄🙄🙄

Anyway, keep doing what you're doing - unless it's not what you should be, then stop immediately - we got this! 🌈

We will see each other very soon for bad jokes, even worse dancing and belly laughs!

Much love Miss Donnelly, Kerry and Mrs Kemp xxx

Miss Donnelly’s Golden Time
Some nice ideas to get you through the week
Your secret challenge this week (ssssh!)

Tell a loved one how important they are to you. This could be:
  • Giving them a hug before bed.
  • A kiss as they go off or come home from work.
  • A smile at lunchtime.
  • Maybe ringing your grandparents, aunties, uncles, siblings just to have a chat and let them know that you are thinking about them and love them very much.

Picture

You will not believe how much it will brighten someone's day.

Solve this riddle: What is full of holes but still holds water?

Some other fun and free ideas to pass the time:
  • Make a tent or den out of sheets, cushions and pillows.
  • Get out old photo albums and look through them as a family.
  • Play noughts and crosses or card games
  • Style your parents' hair. DO NOT USE SCISSORS OR HEATED STYLING PRODUCTS! The hairdressers aren't open if you make a mockery of it! When I was younger, every now and again I would do my mum's hair. Yes, it looked hideous and like she'd been dragged through a bush and then reversed over but we had a laugh and bonded.

A word I know, six letters it contains, remove one letter and 12 remains, what is it?

Hey all you cool cats and kittens,

Hope you and your family are doing well. I’ve really enjoyed seeing all your wonderful work through Purple Mash, TTRS and even emails. So, well done and please keep it up! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Remember this Friday is a Bank Holiday. So, if you've not had enough days off already, you're getting another one to stay inside and relax. (YAY!) ☀️
Recently, you may have been getting a little bored and emotions may be running high. But it’s important that now -more than ever- you stay inside and follow government guidelines. It’ll be worth it in the end. (I promise 🌈 )

Missing you all dearly.

P.S. Can you tell I recently worked out how to put emojis on the blog? 😌 #delighted

Some nice ideas to get you through the week...

Watch the videos below and enjoy how wonderful God’s earth is. They should make you smile. 🌍
  • I would also like this week for you to make a cake or something similar with your family. Spend some quality time together and learn some life skills whilst you're at it. I tried to make an Easter Sunday Reese's Pieces cheesecake. To be honest it looked more like Good Friday on a plate! It's the thought that counts though. 🍰 🎂
Solve this riddle: A word I know, six letters it contains, remove one letter and 12 remains, what is it?
Your (not so) secret challenge this week.
Decorate an area/window in your home where strangers/public can see that supports the NHS and key workers. You could leave letters of encouragement on people’s cars, give out compliments to key workers, a friendly smile etc.
Most of us get caught up in our own lives and the daily busyness that we put on ourselves, forgetting that the simplest of things can have the most significant impact on someone else. ⛈ ☔️ ☀️  🌈

DON AND DEC'S SATURDAY NIGHT TAKEAWAY!!!

This week you are playing to win: a bottle of water, an NHS charity donation and some hairspray.
Picture
You need to answer the three questions below to be in with a chance to win the items from the adverts on Tuesday's 'The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer' on Channel 4.

1. Kerry spent two whole days cleaning her windows (sad, but true). If she has 4 sets of 28 windows at the front and 3 sets of 4 at the back of her house, how many windows did she clean in total? 28 x 4=  112     3 x 4=12        12 + 112 = 124

2. Last week, Our Lady and St Catherine of Siena Church celebrated its 150 year anniversary. Which St. Agnes staff member read the First Reading?
There was not a gathering in Church but Mass still went ahead and was live streamed. Mr Crow read the First Reading.

    Welcome Y6!

    Dear Parents,

Don't stress about schoolwork. In June, we will get your children back on track. I am a teacher and that's my superpower. So right now I need you to share your calm, strength and laughter. No children are ahead. No children are behind. Your children are exactly where they need to be (at home in lockdown!)

    With love,
