Weekly Timetable (18/05/20)

18/5/2020

Howdy! 🤠
Hope you're all doing well and staying safe. This will be your last week of home learning (for a while) as next week is half term. Enjoy yourselves, be good and keep dancing!

Number of the Week: 1

Taking 6-grid figure references...

Using your new knowledge and this handy wesbite: https://gridreferencefinder.com/

try and locate these three key locations in Shakespeare's life:
  • The Globe Theatre
  • Ireland Yard (his London residence)
  • Anne Hathaway's Cottage (Stratford Upon Avon)
If you google Anne Hathaway, be careful not to confuse her with the award-winning actor from the Princess Diaries, Les Miserable and many other great films. (I'll be honest, I was a little perplexed to begin with too!)

NCETM activity (Tuesday)

Picture

This is a regular pentagon. Two angles (108° and 36°) are shown. Which other angles can you work out? Explain your reasoning.

Pentecost

Watch the video below or read the Pentecost story and reflect on it. Imagine you had been a member of the crowd that day and had heard the call.
  • Would you have joined the Disciples on their journey?
  • How would your life have changed as you decided to live together as the new church?
  • What would have been the benefits?
  • What challenges would there be?
  • How did it change you? Why?

The focus of Pentecost is what Jesus taught us about how to be a good friend and repenting from sin.
Why not make a friendship bracelet for a friend that you miss or a paper-chain. Are there any other ways you can think of to show your friendship?

Miss Donnelly's Golden Time

Some nice ideas to get you through the week.

Some hilarious (if I do say so myself) activities to try at home...

  • No Thumbs Challenge: In this challenge, you have to tape your thumbs in a way so that you can’t use them, no matter how much you try. Then, try out a simple task. Go for something funny like trying to eat cereal or putting on clothes. Play with a sibling. The first to complete their task is the winner!
  • Beans and Chopsticks Challenge:  Participants will need chopsticks/fork, beans (or something similar) and an empty container, plate or bowl. Using the chopsticks, transfer the beans from the can into the empty container. The player who transfers the highest number of beans in a minute (or pick your own time) wins.
  • Memory Challenge:  Display some items from around the house on a table or in a tray. Give the contestant a set time to note all of the items. Next, remove some items. See if the contestant can guess correctly what items are missing.
  • 7-second Challenge: For the 7-second challenge, each participant will have seven seconds to complete a task. You can select any task you want, but it has to be a task that can be done in seven seconds. Some examples include: Clapping your right palm on your left thigh and left palm on your right thigh simultaneously 10 times, hopping to the door and back while pulling your two ears or saying, "three grey geese lay grazing in the sun" perfectly 4 times.

Solve this riddle: Where can you find cities, towns, shops, and streets but no people?

PictureMiss Donnelly (and cat) think the way you've laid and cleaned the table is PURRRR-fect and PAW-some!
Your secret challenge this week (ssssh!)
Set and clean the table for dinner daily

What is full of holes but still holds water? A sponge!

    Welcome Y6!

    Dear Parents,

Don't stress about schoolwork. In June, we will get your children back on track. I am a teacher and that's my superpower. So right now I need you to share your calm, strength and laughter. No children are ahead. No children are behind. Your children are exactly where they need to be (at home in lockdown!)

    With love,

Miss Donnelly, Kerry and Mrs Kemp xxx

It will all be alright in the end, if it's not alright, it's not the end x
