2020-2021

Happy Half Term

23/10/2020

Well done Year 6 we have made it to half term. It really has gone by very quickly. I would like to congratulate you all on how you have settled in to Yr 6. I have seen you all mature; you have all adapted very well to the new way school has to operate.

Well done to Joao, Henry, Leilah, Ava Rose, Shyann, Kaia-Lauren, Maya and Mahya who made some fabulous Greek temples for homework this week. Have a look at some of the pictures.

A big thank you goes to Fr Javier who came to tell us about his Ordination as part of our RE topic Vocation and Commitment.

Many of you have made really good progress already, we need to keep this up. You all have been given an envelope with daily activities for half term. Please complete these and return on the first day back after half term (Monday 2nd November). Please ensure you continue to read over half term, therefore everyone should need their Accelerated reader changed on the first day back also.
Have a lovely holiday.

Mrs Manning

Homework 19th October 2020

16/10/2020

Congratulations Year 6, we have almost made it through the half term! I have sent a letter to those people who really need to be reading on a more regular basis at home. I really want those children to make an extra effort this week.  Continue to read every day for at least 20 minutes – this may just be looking at one page and discussing what you can say and why things are happening in the story. Reading isn’t just about reading the words on the page, it’s all about understanding what the story is trying to tell us.
  • You also need to continue learning your spellings.  You only get five words to look at and learn every week, these will help with your reading and writing in class.
  • Have a go at the Maths fluency challenges this week. Don't be frightened of the decimal point!

Homework 12th October 2020

9/10/2020

Year 6 it is the beginning of another week and we are getting close to half term! We have had some fabulous heart models completed for homework. Mahya's model was incredible and is on display in class.

Thank you for completing and returning your homework. Return any that is outstanding. Here is your homework for this week.

  • Reading every day for at least 20 minutes is compulsory. Well done to those year 6 pupils who are reading their accelerated reader and using Myon. Some Year 6 children need to be more proactive with reading at home.
  •  Maths fluency is based on multiplication. everyone should have mastered this by now!
  • You  need to learn to spell the five words  every week, these will help with your reading and writing in class.

Homework Week Beginning 5.10.20

5/10/2020

Year 6 please find your homework for this week. You have reading, maths, spellings and our Word of the Week to look at.
  • Try and read every day for at least 20 minutes – this may just be looking at one page and discussing what you can say and why things are happening in the story. Reading isn’t just about reading the words on the page, it’s all about understanding what the story is trying to tell us. We will be looking at reading fluency so please make sure you check how quickly you can read.
  • You will have maths activities to have a go at, these are called fluency activities. You need to keep practising these skills so you become really accurate and quick! Try and practise these skills for 10 minutes per day.
You will get five words to look at and learn every week, these will help with your writing.
