Activity: Make a poster of the main points in the story. Can you draw a picture and write a summary of the following:

Resolution: How is it solved!?

Explore underlying themes in a text
The theme is the message, or lesson, that the author wants you to learn from the story.
Sometimes, as a reader, you will have to think about the events of the story to find out the theme.
When trying to determine the theme, ask yourself…

• What was the problem in the story?
• How did the characters respond to the problem?
• How did the characters change in the story?
• What did the characters learn in the story?
• What sticks with you, as the reader?

Activity: Can you list the themes in the Robin Hood Story.

Plant Growth
How are you plants growing? How is your cress? 
Don't Panic! If it has sadly died, or you couldn't get hold of a plant, let's try this:

Activity: Make a leaflet or flip book to explain how plants grow best. Try to answer: What is a flowering plant? What do they need to grow best? What are the top tips?

Activity: Create a 3D Diorama of a forest using layers of artwork in a range of media. This means, use your favourite picture from last week and make a model t to replicate a one of the scenes in 3D. This may take up to three weeks so take your time and don't get anxious.

I hope you had a happy, holy and restful easter, filled with lots of chocolate!
This is the first of many exciting posts to help you with your home learning. I hope you are all doing well and keeping safe!

On the right of this screen, you will find a timetable. It is to help with the order you complete the activities and also, it includes when to complete the daily activities which are:

What is a temporal conjunction? Time connectives are words or phrases which are used to tell a reader WHEN something is happening. They are sometimes called temporal connectives. Time connectives include: first, last, next, then, finally, eventually, this evening, last week, after a while, soon afterwards, meanwhile

Activities
Look at some recipes and diaries online or in your house. Can you list at least 5? Note them down on post it notes for your learning over the next two weeks.

Measure in millimetres
Activities:
Find 3 things in your home and measure them with a ruler using millimetres. 

Next: Can you draw 6 random lines and challenge a sibling or parent to help you measure them? Record the measurements in mm.

​Describe functions of parts of flowering plants

Activities:
Take a look at the image below. Label the flower with the simple parts: flower, petals, leaf, stem, roots. 

Next: Use books or internet, to find out what each of your parts do. Now draw your own flower and make a poster with the parts and a description of their job.

The Resurrection
24 Very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, carrying the spices they had prepared. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the entrance to the tomb, 3 so they went in; but they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 They stood there puzzled about this, when suddenly two men in bright shining clothes stood by them. 5 Full of fear, the women bowed down to the ground, as the men said to them, “Why are you looking among the dead for one who is alive? 6 He is not here; he has been raised. Remember what he said to you while he was in Galilee: 7 ‘The Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, be crucified, and three days later rise to life.’”
8 Then the women remembered his words, 9 returned from the tomb, and told all these things to the eleven disciples and all the rest. 10 The women were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Mary the mother of James; they and the other women with them told these things to the apostles. 11 But the apostles thought that what the women said was nonsense, and they did not believe them. 12 But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; he bent down and saw the grave cloths but nothing else. Then he went back home amazed at what had happened.

Activity:
​Look at the picture. Can you produce your own drawing reflecting on Jesus' Resurrection? Remember, Jesus promised us something special 50 days after easter. Use this as a time to think about what is coming next.

Prayer Focus Time - Mass Responses, Key Prayers
It is time to focus on the basics of Mass.

At this time of year, we have now reflected on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ through Lent to Easter.

Well, ​eEvery Sunday, we remember this very special sacrifice in the Liturgy of the Eucharist/communion. Year 3! I need you to practise your prayers and Mass responses, so, when we meet again at mass, we will be truly wonderful and an example for Key Stage 1.

Plants
Ideally, this would be a great experiment, but I know at this time it is difficult. So, if you can, get hold of a cress plant, or any other plant.

Research what plants need to thrive - survive!
Can you write a list of instructions for looking after a plant?
Then, use the instructions to look after your very own plant. Keep it alive! At the end of this month, you can see how the plant looks and maybe even write a report! ​

English
***IMPORTANT CHALLENGE****
​Spend some time today (after your learning, morning or afternoon), doing something safe and exciting with your family. You could

• Bake
• Go for a walk - stay local, stay safe and think about the things you can see, hear, smell. maybe you could ride a scooter or jog or cycle. PLEASE BE SAFE. NO MORE THAN HALF AN HOUR.
• Play a game of rounders or any other sport outdoors
• Have a picnic in your garden, in a tent, under the table, under the bunk beds - wherever you fancy.

BE SENSIBLE. I would like you to do anything you wish, since tomorrow, for English, you are going to have a go at writing a diary about it!

Draft Writing Challenge!
Year 3, I'd like you to spend this morning writing  a diary about yesterday's experience. Remember your features:

Activity: Look at paintings and artworks about forests and trees – Rousseau’s Tiger, Jacob Epstein’s paintings of Epping, Hockney Yorkshire Wolds, 

Can you draw a little bit of it? Can you describe why you like it?
What can you see?
What colours can you see?
How did the artist create his image?

Here are my favourites. Jacob Epstein has to be my top one! It's in Epping, in Essex, near my new house!
