Friday 5/2/21

5/2/2021

Hello again Reception,
Well done for working so hard again this week!
  • Reading:  For the final day of storytelling week, snuggle down with your teddy and share one of your favourite stories.
  • Counting: Keep practising counting to 20 and beyond. Build a tower of blocks.  What's the tallest tower you can build?  How many blocks are there?  Count them as you build.  If you haven't got any building blocks or bricks, you could use plastics pots or containers or cardboard boxes and build them into a tower.  You could even use cushions or pillows.  Whatever you can find that can be stacked.
  • Writing:  From yesterday, think about the animal that you would ask the zoo to send you as a pet.   Use these high frequency words to write one or more of the sentences below:                Look at the.....
          It is ......
          It has......
  • Use your sounds and/or high frequency words to complete the sentences. e.g Look at the zebra.  It is stripe. (stripy).  It has fr legs. (four)  Remember it is ok to only write the sounds you hear.  As always, don't forget a capital letter for the start of the sentence, finger spaces and a full stop at the end.  Read over your sentence once you have written it.  Point to each word as you say it.   Draw a picture of what you have written.
  • Keep active:  Sing Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and do the actions.  Can you go fast and then slow?  Can you say it in a funny voice?  Now try If your happy and you know it with different actions - clap your hands, stamp your feet, nod your head, shout WE ARE, do all four.  Sing the Hokey Cokey and do the actions. â€‹
  • Remember to continue to talk.  At the moment, we often feel worried about what is happening.  It is ok to talk about what makes us worried.  Tell an adult how you are feeling, especially what you are worried or scared about. Then talk about what makes you happy. How can this help you when you are feeling worried?
Phonics: This is the last lesson looking at words ending in s.  Watch the video and join in with Josh. You will also need some paper and a pencil to write with.
Writing: Keep practising your handwriting.  Follow the direction of the arrows.  Use your magic writing finger at first, don't stop writing until you finish the letter.  Next, try writing it on paper.  â€‹We are going to practise some more letters from the zig zag family.  We have practised these before.  They are a bit tricky.

Literacy: Enjoy your last day of making up a story.    You don't need to draw or write anything.  Just tell a story.
Maths:  What day is it today?  What day was it yesterday? What day will it be tomorrow?

Watch the White Rose Maths video by clicking on the link below.  Today's session is Growing 6, 7, 8 WEEK 1  SESSION 3

Find different ways to make 8.  You could draw a ladybird like the one below or get two plates.  Get 8 buttons or pennies.  Find different ways to make 8.  Practise saying what you have made - eg 7 and 1 make 8 altogether, 6 and 2 make 8 altogether etc  Did you find them all?
Well done for working so hard again this week.  You are doing so well.    Do something you enjoy on your own or with your family -  do some junk modelling (make something out of old cereal or tissue boxes or anything you might recycle), go outside for a walk, do a puzzle, play with your toys, do some cooking, draw a picture, dance to some music.
