Good morning Reception, I hope you enjoyed World Book Day yesterday. Thank you for sharing what you did. It looked like such fun! Well done for all the guesses of the Masked Reader. See the school website for the answers. This is your final day of learning at home. I am so proud of what you have achieved during this time. I am so excited at being able to see you all in person on Monday. Have a good weekend, get some rest so you are ready to learn when you come to school. Here is your learning for today.
Keep talking: What have you enjoyed about learning at home? What will you miss when you come back to school? What can you do now that you weren't able to do before? Phonics: Watch the video below for today's phoneme. Today's sound is 'or' as in horn. You will need paper and something to write with. Writing: You are going to do some writing linked to the sound 'or'. Write the letters that make the ‘or’ sound. Now write the word with 'or' in it - fork. Then write the sentence - I get a fork. Don't forget a capital letter to start the sentence, finger spaces between each word and a full stop at the end. Read the sentence once you have written it. Literacy: In The Gruffalo story, there are lots of words that rhyme. Rhyming words are words that sound the same when we say them. Think about these lines from the story - can you say what the missing rhyming word is?
Say the words together. wood - good, mouse - house, toes - nose, gruffalo - know, no - gruffalo. Can you hear the rhyme? Look at the sheet below - can you find the pairs of rhyming words? Can you think of any other words that rhyme? Maths: On March 21st it is Census Day. Today St Agnes is having a Let's Count Day so we can find out all about what the census is and why we do it. Watch the video below. Then take part in the activity below. Please email a picture or drawing of what you have counted to [email protected]. We are going to make a special display about our Let's Count Day when we go back to school. Now you have found out that the Census is all about counting. For our Let's Count day, choose something to count in your house. It could be anything - toys, spoons, shoes, pillows. Line them up, count them. Then take a picture or draw what you have counted. Make tally marks to show how many you have counted. See my photos below to give you an idea. Well done for working so hard at home doing your learning. You have done really well and I am very proud of you. Do something you enjoy on your own or with your family - draw a picture, go outside for a walk, do a puzzle, play with your toys, do some cooking, dance to some music or read a book.
Hi Reception,
Today is World Book Day! We can enjoy everything about books! What's your favourite book? Have fun today! Have a look at the school’s website for the Masked Reader. Can you guess who is reading? I have got a story to share with you. It is from one of my favourite authors. See below for the video.
Maths: You can even enjoy Maths through books! Have fun listening to this story called 'Ten Monkey Jamboree.' Make your own counting book like this one. Which animal will you choose?
Have a go at the activity below. You could use a stone instead of a potato. I would love to see what you make. Please email a photo today to [email protected] to share with me what you have done.
Choose from any of these activities to enjoy the rest of World Book Day.
Hello Reception,
I hope your week is still going well. Here is your learning for today:

Draw a picture of the wood that the mouse was walking through. Now use your picture of the wood and the puppets you made yesterday to tell the story of The Gruffalo. Remember the order that the animals came in. Remember what each animal said.
Maths: What day is it today? What day was it yesterday? What day will it be tomorrow?
Today we are going to revisit our 2D shapes before we go back to school next week. Watch the White Rose Maths video below. Today's session is Light and Dark Week 3 Session 1
Look at the shapes below. Can you find the squares? rectangles? triangles? circles? How many of each shape are there? How many sides does each shape have? How do we know it's a square, triangle, rectangle or circle? A square has four sides that are equal. A rectangle has four sides - two long sides, two short sides. A triangle has three sides. A circle is round (has a curved side). Can you find matching pairs? How could you sort them?
