Monday 1/3/21

1/3/2021

Good morning Reception,
I hope you had a good weekend.  Today is the start of a new month!  It is March.  Hopefully the weather will continue to get warmer.  Have you seen any signs of Spring?
It is also your last week of learning at home.  Try your hardest and I look forward to seeing you all next week.

Here is your learning for today:
  • Reading:  Read your favourite book or listen to a story on Myon.    www.myon.co.uk/index.html
  • Counting:  Try this Teddy counting game.  www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/teddy-numbers  Click on the numbers up to 15 tab.
  • Writing: See below today's phonics for the writing task.
  • Do some exercise:  The activities I have chosen this week will help you get ready to come back to school.  Try this lesson on footwork patterns at home.
Keep talking:  What are you looking forward to about going back to school?  Is there anything you are worried about?  I am looking forward to.. ...    I am worried about.....
Phonics: Watch the video below for today's phoneme.  Today's sound is 'oo' as in moon.  You will need paper and something to write with.
Writing:  You are going to do some writing linked to the sound 'oo'.  Write the letters that make the ‘oo’ sound.  Now write the word with 'oo' in it - moon.  Then write the sentence -  I can see the moon. Don't forget a capital letter to start the sentence, finger spaces between each word and a full stop at the end.  Read the sentence once you have written it.

Literacy:  See the video below for today's lesson.
Maths:  Yesterday was.....  Today is.....  Tomorrow will be....

Watch the White Rose Maths video by clicking on the link below.  Today's session is Growing 6, 7, 8  Week 3 Session 4 Measuring Height

whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/growing-6-7-8-week-3/

For today's activity you could plant a seed, otherwise use objects to measure different things in your house.  If you have a flower or plant already grown, you could measure it and then measure anything else you can find such as a teddy, milk bottle, a book, a sock.  Use cubes or blocks to measure.  Don't forget to talk about what you notice using the key words: short, shorter, tall, taller, more, fewer, shortest, tallest.
Music - Join in with the next music lesson from Oak National Academy 'The Woodland' Part 2.
