Wednesday 3/3/21

3/3/2021

Hello Reception,
I hope your week is still going well.
Here is your learning for today:
  • Reading: Read your favourite book or listen to a story on Myon.   www.myon.co.uk/index.html
  • Counting:  Log in to Purple Mash.  Click on the pin at the top of the screen that says Spring.  Then click on the Maths folder.  Complete both tasks - Counting objects and Missing Numbers.

  • Writing:  See below the Phonics lesson for today's writing.
  • Do some exercise:  Play Lily pad jump - see the video below
Keep talking:  Tomorrow is World Book Day.  What is your favourite book?  Why do you like it?  You could find your favourite book ready to read tomorrow.
Phonics: Watch the video below for today's phoneme.  Today's sound is 'ar' as in car.  You will need paper and something to write with.
Writing:  You are going to do some writing linked to the sound 'ar'.  Write the letters that make the ‘ar’ sound.  Now write the word with 'ar' in it - car.  Then write the sentence -  The car is going away. Don't forget a capital letter to start the sentence, finger spaces between each word and a full stop at the end.  Read the sentence once you have written it.

Literacy:  Where does the story of The Gruffalo take place?  Where did the mouse go for a stroll?  The mouse took a stroll through the deep, dark wood.  Draw a picture of the wood that the mouse was walking through.  Now use your picture of the wood and the puppets you made yesterday to tell the story of The Gruffalo.  Remember the order that the animals came in.  Remember what each animal said.
Maths:  What day is it today?  What day was it yesterday?  What day will it be tomorrow?

Today we are going to revisit our 2D shapes before we go back to school next week.
Watch the White Rose Maths video below.  Today's session is Light and Dark  Week 3 Session 1

Light and Dark - Week 3 - Session 1 from White Rose Maths on Vimeo.

Look at the shapes below.  Can you find the squares?  rectangles?  triangles?  circles?  How many of each shape are there?  How many sides does each shape have?  How do we know it's a square, triangle, rectangle or circle?  A square has four sides that are equal.  A rectangle has four sides - two long sides, two short sides.  A triangle has three sides.  A circle is round (has a curved side).   Can you find matching pairs?  How could you sort them?
R.E. We are continuing our topic called 'Gathering.'
See the video below for today's lesson.
