Friday 8/1/21

8/1/2021

Good morning Reception,
Well done, you have got to the end of your first week of home learning.  You are doing very well.
Here is your learning for today:
  • Reading: Choose a story from Cbeebies bedtime stories on BBC iplayer to enjoy listening to.   https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b00jdlm2/cbeebies-bedtime-stories
  • Keep counting!  Can you count to 20? Sing the counting song - '1,2,3,4,5, Once I caught a fish alive, 6,7,8,9,10 Then I let it go again. Why did you let it go?  Because it bit my finger so!  Which finger did it bite?  This little finger on my right.' Use your fingers to count as you sing the numbers.
  • Keep practising writing your name and/or high frequency words.
  • It's really important to keep talking.  Maybe you could talk to someone on the phone and tell them about something you have done today - something you've watched, learned, seen or done.  Talk in full sentences.  Today I learned....  It was really good when... Try asking them some questions to see what they have been up to.
Phonics:  The phoneme for today is         x
Watch this Youtube video for today's phoneme.
Now for the reading.
Practise reading these words.
Writing:  Practise your handwriting.  Follow the direction of the arrows.  Use your magic writing finger at first, don't stop writing until you finish the pattern or letter.  Next, try writing it on paper.  This is quite a tricky letter to write.  Just try your best.

 Maths:
What day is it today?  What day will it be tomorrow?  What day was it yesterday?
Yesterday we looked at what we do during the day and at night.  Today we are going to look at sorting activities into daytime activities and nighttime activities.
Watch this video from White Rose Maths - it is Week 3 Session 4.

Once you have finished watching the video, look at the pictures on the sheet below and talk about which activities happen during the day and which happen during the night. Why are there two toothbrushes?
A good thing to do to help strengthen your fingers and hands for writing is using playdough.
Here is a simple playdough recipe for you to make at home.
https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/playdough-recipe
At school, the children are great at helping to make the playdough that we use.  They really enjoy it too.
Once you've made it, have fun exploring it.
There is also something called dough disco which are specific exercises to strengthen finger muscles.  See below for a video or search 'dough disco' on Youtube for lots more ideas.
