Monday 1/2/21

1/2/2021

Good morning Reception,
Did you guess the name of the month?  That's right, it's February.  February has 28 days.  If you have a calendar, you could mark off each day when you get up in the morning.

Don't forget to sign into Google classroom classroom.google.com Then hopefully I can have a Google meet with you today.

Here is your learning for today.
  • Reading:  Share a book you enjoy or choose a book from Myon to listen to.   www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html
  • Keep practising your counting - Do 20 jumps.  20 hops.  Run on the spot for 20 seconds.  Clap 20 times. Touch your head 20 times.  What else could you do?  Remember to say the numbers each time you do an action.
  • Writing:  Use these high frequency words to write the sentences below:                                       Come and see the ....
  • Use your sounds and/or high frequency words to complete the sentences. e.g Come and see the frog.  Come and see the ran. (rain).  Remember it is ok to only write the sounds you hear.  As always, don't forget a capital letter for the start of the sentence, finger spaces and a full stop at the end.  Read over your sentence once you have written it.  Point to each word as you say it.   Draw a picture of what you have written.
  • Do some exercise: Try another Supermovers from BBC.  This time join in with HomeBros. There's a level 2 if you want as well. www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/just-for-fun-homebros-l1/z6cpwty
  • Level 2 www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers/just-for-fun-homebros-l2/zv2cpg8
  • Keep talking - Remember it's also important to listen.  Ask someone a question.  How are you feeling today?  What is your favourite food?  What do you like to do?  Listen carefully to the answer.  Listen carefully then repeat what the person said.
Phonics: This is the last session for this part of reviewing and practising blending.   Watch the video and join in with Rachel. You will also need some paper and a pencil to write with.
Writing: Keep practising your handwriting.  Follow the direction of the arrows.  Use your magic writing finger at first, don't stop writing until you finish the letter.  Next, try writing it on paper.  We are going to practise letters from the one-armed robot family. Trace over the robot first before trying to write the letters.

Literacy:  Listen to this story called 'This is Owl' by Libby Walden.  There are lots of actions to join in with when you are listening.
Maths:  What day is it today?  What day was it yesterday? What day will it be tomorrow?

Watch the White Rose Maths video by clicking on the link below.  Today's session is Alive in 5  WEEK 3  SESSION 4

Find an empty matchbox if you have one but don't worry if you don't.  Any small box or container will do.  Think about what will and won't fit inside your box/container.  Try to say why something won't fit e.g It won't fit because it is too long/ too large.  How many things can you fit in your box/container.  Count them.  Did you fit more than 12?
In 'This is Owl' there was a baby owl.  Do you know what a baby owl is called?  It is called an owlet.
Watch the video below to find out the names of some baby animals.  How many did you know already?  Did any surprise you?
Log on to Purple Mash - I have pinned a topic called Baby Animals to the top of your screen.  Click on the picture of the baby chick to explore the activities about baby animals.
