Monday 22/2/21

22/2/2021

Good morning Reception,
I hope you had a good half term, are safe and well and managed to get some rest.  It was nice to take a break from learning but I hope you are ready to start again.

Here is your learning for today:
  • Reading: What have you enjoyed reading over half term?  Enjoy listening to the story of Elmer.  Scan the QR code below to listen to the story read by the author on Youtube.

  • Counting:  Count objects - socks, pennies, grapes, any objects you can find lots of.  Can you guess how many there might be before you count them?
  • Writing - see below the phonics video for today's writing linked to the sound we are learning.
  • Do some exercise:  Go for a walk - Can you spot these things? - a bus, a tree, something with a tail, something square, something round, a give way sign.  What else could you add to your list?
  • Keep talking: What did you like best about the Elmer story?  I liked it when.....
Phonics:  We are going to start learning some new phonemes.  This week they are all digraphs.  Remember: Digraphs are two letters that make one sound.  You will need paper and something to write with.  Today's phoneme is 'ai'
Writing:  Today you are going to do some writing linked to today's sound.  The sound is 'ai'.  Write the letters that make the ‘ai’ sound.  Now write the words with 'ai' in them - snail, rain.  Then write the sentence -  The snail is in the rain.

Literacy:  See below for the video of today's Literacy lesson.
Maths:  What day was it yesterday?  What day is it today?  What day is it tomorrow?

Watch the White Rose Maths video by clicking on the link below.  Today's session is Growing 6, 7, 8  WEEK 2  Combining 2 groups (part 2)

Look at the dominoes on the sheet below.  How many dots does the domino have on each side?  How many dots are there altogether?  Talk about what you can see.  There are 3 and 5 dots.  There are 8 dots altogether.
Where an animal lives is called its habitat.  The animals in the Gruffalo story live in a woodland habitat.  Have a look at the pictures below to see which habitat the different woodland animals live in.
Draw a picture of a woodland habitat and draw some of the animals and where they live.  You could use  paper and pencils or you could log on to Purple Mash and go into 2Paint a Picture which is in the outside area of Mini mash.  Just click to go through the door and click on the children who are painting.
