Monday 8/2/21

8/2/2021

Good morning Reception,
I hope you had a good weekend and are keeping safe and well.
Here is your learning for today:
  • Reading: Enjoy sharing a book of your own or listen to a story on Myon.  www.myon.co.uk/index.html
  • Counting: Practise counting forwards and backwards using this number track.  Cover a number.  Count up to that number, can you say what comes next?

  • Writing: This week we are going to use our sounds to write simple words.  Look at the pictures below to see which words you are going to write.
  • Each time, look at the picture, say the word e.g bat, say each sound in the word b - a - t  then write each of the sounds and say them as you write them b - a - t, finally say the word again - bat.  Remember there will be no finger spaces between each letter because you are writing one word.  There should be no capital letters.

  • If you want, you can write a sentence about a picture after you have written the word.  e.g The sun is hot.  Use your high frequency words and sounds like you have been doing over the last few weeks.  Don't forget a capital letter to start the sentence, finger spaces and a full stop to finish.
  • Do some exercise: This week try some repeating action patterns.  Have a go at these or make up some of your own!
Arms up arms down, arms up arms down, arms up arms down
Clap clap stomp stomp, clap clap stomp stomp
Jump jump jump wiggle, jump jump jump wiggle
Head toes toes head, head toes toes head, head toes toes head
  • Keep talking:  Talk about what the weather is like today.  Remember to use full sentences.  e.g Today it is cold and sunny.
Phonics: Watch the phonics video below.  You will need paper and something to write with.
Writing: This week, we are going to do something called 'pen disco'.  Practise writing the patterns while listening to music that you like. You need paper or card and something to write with.  See the video for today's pattern.  There are also some pictures of the finished patterns to help you.  Enjoy!

Literacy:  This week we are going to practise our reading.  Look at the sheet below.  Don't worry if you can't print it.
Look at the picture.  Talk about what is in the picture.  Look at the sentence.  Are there any words you know (high frequency words)?
Point to each word and say the word as you read it.  Say each sound in the word for the words you don't know. e.g p - e - n, then put the sounds together - pen.  Once you know all the words, read the sentence again.
Maths:  What day is it today?  What day was it yesterday? What day will it be tomorrow?

Watch the White Rose Maths video by clicking on the link below.  Today's session is Growing 6, 7, 8  WEEK 1  SESSION 4

Make your own set of memory cards to play with.  Draw different pictures of 6, 7 or 8 things on paper.  It can be anything that is easy to draw.  Cut the cards out.  Turn them over.  Turn two over at a time.  Are they the same?  Can you say why they are the same?  e.g They are both 8.
Are they different?  Can you say why they are different?  e.g This one has 6 but the other one has 8.
Choose from one of these videos of YolanDa's Band Jam and learn about the different elements of music such as rhythm and pitch.  Join in!
