Thursday 4/2/21

4/2/2021

Good morning Reception,
I hope you are still keeping safe and well.
Here is your learning for today:
  • Reading:  Enjoy this story told as a poem by Michael Rosen.  It is called 'Chocolate Cake'.  I love chocolate cake!  What is your favourite type of cake?
  • Counting - keep practising counting to 20 or beyond.  Collect 30 objects.  Can you count them all?
  • Writing: Today I would like you to use your sounds to write a shopping list.  Talk to an adult in your house about some of the things you might need to buy when you go to the shop.  Think carefully about the sounds that you can hear in each word.  Say the word, robot each phoneme (sound) that you can hear.  Write the letters for each sound.  Remember it doesn't matter if they are not spelled correctly.  You won't need full stops or capital letters today as we are not writing sentences.  A list goes down the page so write the words underneath each other. Read your list when you have finished.  If you are going to the shop, take your list with you and mark off the items as you buy them.
                            e.g milk
                                 bred   (bread)
                                 apls    (apples)
  • Keep active: Play Recycling bowling      Use your empty bottles that are ready to be recycled to create a bowling game. Use a pair of socks rolled up as the ball.  How many can you knock down in one go?
  • Keep talking:  If you could have one wish - what would it be?
Phonics: We are still looking at words ending in s.  Watch the video and join in with Josh. You will also need some paper and a pencil to write with.
Writing: Keep practising your handwriting.  Follow the direction of the arrows.  Use your magic writing finger at first, don't stop writing until you finish the letter.  Next, try writing it on paper.  We are going to start practising zig zag letters.  We have practised these letters before.  Go over the zig zag pattern first before you trace the letters.

Literacy:  Here is a new idea for a story that you can make up.  You don't need to draw or write anything.  Just tell the story.
Maths:  Today is...  Yesterday was.... Tomorrow will be....

Watch the White Rose Maths video by clicking on the link below.  Today's session is Growing 6, 7, 8 WEEK 1  SESSION 2

How can you make 7?  Draw a rectangle domino shape on paper.  Or get 2 separate plates.  Get 7 buttons or pennies.  Move the buttons or pennies to both sides of the domino or onto each plate to make 7 in different ways.  Have you found all the possible ways?
R.E.  Last week we looked at the Presentation story from the Bible.  Can you remember any parts of the story?  Who took Jesus to the temple?  (Mary and Joseph) Who did they meet when they got there?  (Anna and Simeon)

Can you remember what Simeon said about Jesus?  He said Jesus is the Light of the World.
Make a cardboard candle out of a toilet roll or paper towel roll.  Decorate the toilet roll.  Cut out some flame shapes from paper and colour them in orange, or you could use orange paper or tissue paper if you have any.  Stick them to the top of the toilet roll.  You could write the word Jesus down the front of the candle.

Display the candle in a special place.  It reminds us that Jesus is a very important light in our lives and in our hearts.
