Wednesday 13/1/21

13/1/2021

Good morning Reception,
I hope you are keeping well.
Well done to all of you who have logged on to Purple Mash.  I could see you have been working hard because I can see all the work you have saved into your tray!  It was fantastic!

Thank you Paolo for sharing your work!  Your writing has improved so much.  Well done!

Here is your learning for today.
  • Reading:  Log in to Myon and choose a book to listen to or read with someone.
  • Counting:  Practise counting to 20.  Write the numbers from 0 to 20 on some paper or card to make number cards.  Cut them out and mix them up.  Can you put them back in the right order from 0 to 20?
  • Draw a picture of Sarah and Percy and Bill from the story 'Owl Babies'.  Under each baby owl write the caption: This is Sarah.  This is Percy.  This is Bill. Don't forget a capital letter to start, finger spaces between each word and a full stop at the end.
  • Try to do some exercise - https://www.nhs.uk/10-minute-shake-up/shake-ups/whats-the-time-elastigirl
  • As always, it's important to keep talking! Remember to talk in full sentences. Tell someone something you have learned about owls.  (see further down the blog for what to do).
Phonics:  The phoneme for today is         zz
Watch this Youtube video for today's phoneme.
Now for the reading.
Practise reading these words.
Writing : We are going to practise z again today as it is quite tricky.  Follow the direction of the arrows.  Use your magic writing finger at first, don't stop writing until you finish the pattern or letter.  Next, try writing it on paper.  Just try your best.

Literacy:  We are going to continue to read the story 'Owl Babies'.
Today I am going to read you the middle part of the story and teach you the next part of the story map.  See the videos below.
Maths:  What day is it today?  What day was it yesterday?  What day will it be tomorrow?
Today can you draw pictures to represent each of the digits up to 5?
Don't forget the digit 0.  What can you do to show 0?  Remember, we use 0 to show when there is nothing.   Look at the pictures below - which numbers do they show?  Which picture shows 0?
You can try going up to 10.  What about 20?

Since we have been reading 'Owl Babies' I would like you to see if you can find out some facts about owls.  On Myon there are lots of information books about owls that you can listen to/read.
When you log on to Myon, click library at the top, then click on search.  Type in owls and you will find lots of books about owls.
If you would like to share your owl facts with me, log on to Purple Mash, click on the teacher reading the book, click on 2 Create a Story, then click on My Simple Story.  When you have finished, click save and exit and the work will save into your tray for me to see.
