Wednesday 3/2/21

3/2/2021

Good morning Reception,
I hope you are having a good week.
Well done to everyone for your fantastic work on Purple Mash!  It is lovely to see so many different pieces of work.  Avery and Poppi-Ann, your owl babies are very cute.
Well done also to Eiyden!  Thank you for sharing how well you are doing reading your high frequency words.

Here is your learning for today.
  • Reading: Enjoy your favourite story or listen to a book on Myon.     www.myon.co.uk/index.html
  • Counting: You are doing so well counting to 20 and I know lots of you can count past 20.  Keep practising:  Look at the picture below.  It is from the nursery rhyme Hey Diddle Diddle.  Do you know it?  See what you can count. How many big stars?  little stars?  How many stones on the path?  How many trees?  houses?  blue flowers?  What else can you count?

  • Writing: Use the picture above to write some sentences about the picture.
  • Use your sounds and/or high frequency words to write your sentences. e.g The dish and the spoon ran.  This dog lafd. (laughed).  I can see a cow jumping.
  • Remember it is ok to only write the sounds you hear.  As always, don't forget a capital letter for the start of the sentence, finger spaces and a full stop at the end.  Read over your sentence once you have written it.  Point to each word as you say it.
  • Do some exercise:  Play the floor is lava game.  Put cushions and tea towels on the floor.  Make your way around the room without touching the floor.
  • Don't forget to keep talking - Tell your story that you have made up to someone in your family.
Phonics:  We are continuing looking at words ending in s.  Watch the video and join in with Josh. Today you will also need some paper and a pencil to write with.
Writing: Keep practising your handwriting.  Follow the direction of the arrows.  Use your magic writing finger at first, don't stop writing until you finish the letter.  Next, try writing it on paper.  We are going to practise the last set of letters from the one-armed robot family.

Literacy: Today there is another idea for a story that you can make up.  You don't need to draw or write anything.  Just tell a story.
Maths:  What day is it today?  What day was it yesterday? What day will it be tomorrow?

Watch the White Rose Maths video by clicking on the link below.  We are moving onto the topic Growing and it is  WEEK 1  SESSION 1.

Go on a hunt for 6.  Find groups of 6 objects.  Think about how they are arranged.  3 and 3 or 4 and 2 or 5 and 1.  Then see if you can find the numeral 6 anywhere.  A clock, a playing card, a door number.  You could also listen to the story 'Six Dinner Sid'.  see the video below.  How many times is 6 mentioned in the story?
Did you look at any of the webcams from the zoo yesterday?  Which animals did you see?

Do you know the story 'Dear Zoo' by Rod Campbell?  It is all about searching for a new pet by writing to the zoo to ask for one.
If you could have any pet from a zoo what would it be?  What would you ask for?
The story goes - I wrote to the zoo to send me a pet.  They sent me a ......
Draw a picture of what you would ask the zoo for.  Can you write the animal's name underneath?  Find out any information you can about the animal - What does it eat?  Where does it live?  How does it move?  What are its babies called?
