Wednesday 6/1/21

6/1/2021

Hello again Reception,
Hope you are all keeping well.

Today is a special day - it is the Feast of the Epiphany.  That is when the Wise Men travelled to visit Jesus after He was born.

Here is your learning for today:
  • For reading today we are going to think about the Gospel story of the Wise Men.  Do you remember when we read the Christmas Story in school?  How did the Wise Men know where Jesus was?  Can you remember the gifts that the Wise Men brought to Jesus?  Watch the story using the Youtube link below.  When you have finished watching, talk about what you remember that happened.  Then, draw a picture of one part of the story.  Write a label (e.g the Wise Men) or a caption (e.g The Wise Men went to see Jesus).
  • Counting - Keep practising counting from 0 to 20.  Can you count backwards?
  • Talk about something you have done today - something you've watched, learned, seen or done.  Talk in full sentences.  Today I watched....  It was really funny when...
Phonics:  The phoneme for today is         v
Watch this Youtube video for today's phoneme.
Now it's time for some reading.
Practise reading the words along with Rachel.
Writing:  Practise writing your name or write some high frequency words or a sentence.
Practise writing the two graphemes - j and v.  See below.  Use your magic writing finger - start at the black dot. Don't take your finger off until the end.  Once you are confident, use a pencil and write the letters on paper.

Maths - Practise your counting from 0 to 20 and back again.
What day is it today?  What day will it be tomorrow?
Times of the Day - Here are five pictures of Little Wolf showing what he does at different times of the day.
Have a good look at each one. What do you see in the picture?  What is happening? Could you describe it to someone else?
Think about when they might happen through the day.  What do you think Little Wolf does first?  Next?  After that?  Then?  Finally?
In case you need a little help - Little Wolf eats lunch at school.  Little Wolf has a bath.  Little Wolf goes to school.  Little Wolf has his breakfast.  Little Wolf goes to bed.
What about you?  Do you do the same as Little Wolf in the same order?  Is there anything else that you do during the day?
Draw pictures of up to five things that you do during the day in the order that you do them.  Describe to someone in your house what is happening in your pictures.  What times of the day do you do them?  Can you write down the numbers to show the times?  e.g a 7 for 7 o'clock
To finish off today, we remember the special gift of Jesus that God gave to us at Christmas.
Say this prayer with your family.

A Special Gift
Lord Jesus, you received special gifts from the Three Wise Men.
We know that you are our King.
Help us to always remember what a special gift you are for us.
Amen
