Hello Year 5!

Regretfully and sadly, I am compelled to say 'so long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu'  since this is the last week of the school term as well as our last week in Year 5. Unfortunately, we won't be able to conclude the year together but I hope you enjoyed the time that we spent learning together prior to the lockdown. It has been eventful teaching you this year, both in class and remotely. I am very proud of all of you and the hard work you have put in this year, especially whilst learning at home. I wish you all the best for next year and if anyone is worrying, please don't; you will be fine.

Over the holidays, you can continue to read on MyON and complete activities on TTRS as well as Mathletics. This may help to keep your brains working and prepare you for subsequent learning in Year 6.

Goodbye and good luck Year 5!

God bless and stay safe,
Miss O'Garro
Miss O'Garro's song of the week
This week I have chosen:
Marvin & Tammi - Ain't No Mountain High Enough
I had to pick a song from our amazing assembly. I think that was the highlight of the year! Do you remember all the wonderful performances? What was your favourite moment?

Hello Year 5!

Well done to the children who took part in the London Rocks 2020 tournament on TTRS. Even though our school didn't win, Year 5 had the highest score in St Agnes overall with a score of 28,464. A special thank you to Noah who contributed enormously with 16,494 points!
Also, well done to the children who have accessed MyON and are reading everyday. I would like to celebrate Milkyas who has read for 300+ minutes over the last week!

Keep up the hard work and remember to look at the Year 5 blog to see what your friends are sharing.

God bless and stay safe,

Miss O'Garro's song of the week
This week I have chosen:
Jill Scott - Golden

It's such a positively empowering song. My levels of confidence, happiness, joy and peace elevate every time I hear the lyrics: 'Living my life like its golden'.

The world is a special place God asks us to care of it

Catholic Social Teaching:
A Key Principle – Stewardship of creation.
The earth and all life on it is God’s creation. We are called to take care of it because it is a holy gift from God and the only place we can live. When we make bad or thoughtless use of the earth’s resources, many people suffer. When we make poor choices about how we treat other living things (people, animals, plants) we cause life to be less than God intends. Making wise choices about the care of God’s creation is called good stewardship.
Ask the question of each statement in the document below: Is this good stewardship?

Rodney Jerkins & The Good News - Come Together

"If we come together hand and hand,
We can make a difference if we stand.
I believe I believe we will, I believe I believe we can.
If we learn to take our trust from man,
And just put it all in Gods hands.

Miss O'Garro's song of the week
This week I have chosen:
Janet Jackson - Together Again
Miss Donnelly reminded me of this great song this week. I loved it as a child and still love it as an adult. Once the beat kicks in, I just can't help but dance throughout the song. It reminds me of happy days, trying to learn the dance routine.
Hopefully we will be 'together again' soon.

God bless you all and stay safe.

Miss O'Garro's song of the week
This week I have chosen:
Ben E. King - Stand by Me
It is a beautiful and powerful song that is relevant due to current issues. It reiterates the words from my favourite psalm - which has continuously remained on the right side of the blog - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear (Psalm 46.1-2). During the month of June, when we think about how much Jesus loves us, remember those words. Remember that He is always with us, He is always protecting us.
I pray that God continues to stand by us all.
God bless you and continue to stay safe.

Bonġu Year 5!

I hope you are all doing well. It was lovely to speak to some of you this week and hear what you have been getting up to. Hopefully, we will be able to see one another soon and get back to being our class.

During the lockdown, I have been trying to develop my language skills - have you realised that every week I have said hello in a different language? Are you learning any new skills? This week for your topic activity, I want you to try to learn something new. It might be learning to speak in another language; baking a cake; sewing; braiding hair; origami. Anything as long as it is something new to you.

Keep keeping safe and I hope to see you all soon.

God bless you all,

Miss O'Garro.

As you all know, I love music: it makes me feel good and is something I am using to uplift my spirits during our time away from school.  I have decided to share with you some songs that I enjoy and that I am listening to currently. This week, my chosen song is 'One Love' by Bob Marley and the Wailers. Not only is it a song that I enjoy listening to and singing along to but it is also relevant today because we are working together by staying home to save lives to 'be alright!". I would love to hear about your favourite songs: why don't you share your favourite songs with me by posting it on our Purple Mash blog?

Shalom Year 5!

I hope all is well and you are all continuing to stay safe.
Well done to those children who have been accessing their home learning. If there are any issues with the learning from home, please email info@st-agnes.towerhamlets.sch.uk.

We have now entered the month of Mary as it is now May. Let us follow the words from Pope Francis and ask Mary, Mother of God to help us during this time.

Wednesday
Change the altar/ prayer area- put a blue cloth on it if you have one, if not some thing with a blue pattern or even a blue piece of paper.

Say the Hail Mary every day. Write out the Hail Mary and decorate for the altar.
Topic - Art
Thursday & Friday
Look outside your window, in your garden or inside your home and pick a plant (a tree is a plant). Draw the plant from observation. Take care with your drawing remembering to sketch lightly and not press too hard with your pencil. Once your drawing is complete you may choose to shade or colour it in.
