2020-2021

Home Learning blog - Day 11

19/1/2021

Good Morning Year 1!

I hope you are all well and staying safe in your homes. I love seeing the work you are completing at home so as  always, keep sending it to me via this email address:
Year1@st-agnes.towerhamlets.sch.uk

Being able to give you feedback each day helps me to feel like we are all learning together still.

Here are you learning activities for today:

Reading:
www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/

Find the book we started looking at yesterday: Painting the Loft.
Today, I would like you to read the book from cover to cover and have a go at '
Play Activity 1'
This is a rhyming activity. Complete the words to make rhyming pairs.
As an extension, can you make your own rhyming pairs? Write these down and send them over to me.

Phonics:
Today is the last day on Phase 4. Tomorrow you will be learning new sounds. As always make sure you really know the sounds you are shown.
I would also recommend revising all of the Phase 4 sounds today using the Phonics Play website: www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources
Choose one of the first three games, select Phase 4 and then click on 'Revise all Phase 4'.

English: To use the prefix un- to describe a character.
Today we are going to be using the prefix un-. These two letters go before a word for example 'unkind'. When we add this prefix it gives the word the opposite meaning.

Watch this video of the story and then think about how we can describe max using un- words.
Can we describe Max using un- words?
For example you could write:
Max was unafraid and unkind.

Can you write at least three sentences to describe Max using the un- prefix?

Here is a game you could play to finish your lesson today. It is on the BBC website.
www.bbc.co.uk/games/embed/small-town-superheroes?exitGameUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fbbc.co.uk%2Fbitesize%2Farticles%2Fzncgvk7
It's called 'Small Town Superheroes'. Click on the 'play' button and then choose 'Prefixes and Suffixes'. Try the 'easy' level first.

Maths: To add by making 10.
Here is your maths lesson and activity for today:
whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/spring-week-3/

History:
To identify the differences between old and new objects.

Below you will find a table with two columns, one for old clothes and the other for new clothes. You will also find a selection of images. Can you sort them into the two groups?

As an extra challenge, can you write a simple comparison about the old and new clothing?

Have a wonderful day today Year 1, I look forward to seeing your work later on today.

All the best,
Miss Kennedy x
