2020-2021

Home Learning blog - Day 15

26/1/2021

Hello everyone!!

How are you all getting on?
Sadly we are needing to stay at home for a little while longer, but I know you will work hard and try your best on all of the activities I will ask you to do.
Remember, if you need to ask me anything regarding your work, please do not hesitate to. I am here to help as best as I can!!
I would also love to see some more of your work. Once you complete it all for each day send it to me via the email:
Year1@st-agnes.towerhamlets.sch.uk
It is important that I see the work you are doing at home so I know how best to progress your learning!

Here are your activities for today:
Reading:
Read the book again, this will be the last time. To find the book go to:
www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/
Then have a go at ‘Play Activity 2'.
Next, I would like you to think about these questions:
  • What was your favourite part in the story?
  • Can you summarise the story into THREE sentences? (HINT: beginning, middle, end)
Picture

Phonics:
Join in with the next lesson. Today your new sound is 'ea'. In school you would learn the rhyme 'ea, ea' a cup of tea' to help you remember the sound. Practise this at home too!

Reading: To sequence events in a story
Listen to the story again.

Now I would like you to think about these questions, discuss your answers with an adult.
(You do not need to write your answers to these questions)
  • What magical thing starts the adventure?
  • How does Max get to the setting?
  • What happened when he got there?
  • Who did he meet?
  • What made him want to go home?
  • How did he get back?

Today you are going to sequence these pictures.
Can you write a sentence to go alongside them to help sequence the story?
(If you do not have a printer, use the pictures to help you sequence sentences)

Maths: To subtract by crossing 10 (1)
Watch and join in with the lesson. Have a go at the questions when you are instructed to. Remember to use objects to help you if you need to.
whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/spring-week-4-number-addition-and-subtraction-within-20/

You will also be able to find a maths challenge on Purple Mash. Can you recall all the addition and subtraction facts to 20? Have a go and see how you get on! This challenge will be available to complete for the rest of the week, so wait until you are confident with subtracting before you give it a go.
You will also have time during Friday afternoon's catch up time to complete it!

Geography: To understand that different clothes are worn in different countries.

Have a look at the powerpoint below. This shows you what people wear in different countries and explains why.

Now I would like you to write a sentence(s) about the clothes these people are wearing.  Use the word bank for some help.

Thats all from me today!
Enjoy your learning, remember to take breaks between the tasks, just like we would in school.
Send in everything you do to: Year1@st-agnes.towerhamlets.sch.uk

Miss Kennedy x
