2020-2021

Home Learning blog - Day 22

4/2/2021

Welcome back Year 1!

I miss you all lots, but being able to see your work everyday and to see how well you are all doing makes me so very happy!
Here's the email address again:
Year1@st-agnes.towerhamlets.sch.uk

Here are your activities to complete today:

Reading:
Today we are going to start looking at the book: Beast Feasts. Find it on the oxford owl website:
www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/

Have a look at the front cover and then turn to pages 2-3.
Do you think this book is a fiction story – it is made up?
Or a non-fiction book – it is providing you with information?

Read the book and find out about all the different animals.

Which animal is your favourite?
With an adult or sibling, play the game that Biff, Chip, Wilf and Wilma were playing in ‘The strange beast’
“I’m thinking of an animal…”
Use the information from the book to help you ask your questions.

Phonics:
Phase 5, sound 'o'. This letter can make two sounds, it can make a short sound 'o' like in hot, or a slightly longer sound 'O' in words such as go.
In school, when we see this sound, we would say 'o, o, so, no, go'.
Join in with the lesson here:

English: To sequence and plan my own story.
Today we are going to continue and complete boxing up your own story. Have a look at the video below where I show you my finished plan.
Now its your turn, can you complete your own plan for your version of the story?

Maths: Tens and ones.
Make sure you watch and join in with the lesson found here:
whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/spring-week-5-number-place-value-within-50/
Have a go at the questions on the worksheet, answer them when instructed to throughout the lesson.

Computing:
As you are learning from home you are becoming quite confident with using technology. So today, I challenge you to create your own puzzle on Purple Mash.
To begin you will need to go to the Purple Mash website and search '2DIY puzzle', click on this icon to watch a video to show you how to create your own puzzle.

Then, find your set task in your 2Do section. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Have a great day Year 1. Remember to try and do something that makes you happy or laugh today!!
See you tomorrow,
Miss Kennedy x
