The Year 6 children have had a fantastic week in Bournemouth and have been a credit to the school and their families. Have a quick look at some of their adventures. More to follow! We know you we be looking forward to seeing them later
For National Numeracy Day, we took part in a Numeracy at Work panel. Jack and Cameron from KPMG came and spoke to the children about how they use numbers in their work. The children asked fantastic questions and found out some really interesting information about what it is like to be an accountant.
Today we held our Crowning of Mary service. Thank you to all the children who brought in flowers for the procession. It truly was a special day. After the service the children went to each class in the school to look at their May altar and reflect on all the different titles that Mary has.
Year 5 visited Woburn Safari Park as part of their study of the book 'The Last Wild.' The weather was glorious and the animals did not fail to amaze us. We saw rhinos, monkeys, giraffes, antelopes, bears (and their babies) lions, tigers, parrots, meerkats, a turtle and elephants. We went to 3 workshops and found out about how the animals live in the wild, what they eat, how they are being conserved and we realised just how intelligent many of these animals actually are. A great day was had by everyone.
Year 4 participated in the Young Voices choir at the O2 Arena. They were part of a 7500 children's choir and were absolutely amazing. On the the night they performed with Rebecca Ferguson who was on the X Factor, Urban Strides, Wynne Evans (Go Compare singer) and The Beatbox Collective. Paul Sturgess, a British former professional basketball player and ex Harlem Globetrotter visited the school last Tuesday. He was officially measured by Guinness World Records in November 2011 at 7 ft 7.26 in (2.32 m) and was the tallest player to ever play for the Globe Trotters. Paul led an assembly and then held workshops with every class. He showed off his basketball skills as well as talking to the children about difference and perseverance. He truly was an inspiration.
