Good morning Reception,
I hope you had a good weekend and are keeping safe and well. Here is your learning for today:
Phonics: Watch the phonics video below. You will need paper and something to write with.
Writing: This week, we are going to do something called 'pen disco'. Practise writing the patterns while listening to music that you like. You need paper or card and something to write with. See the video for today's pattern. There are also some pictures of the finished patterns to help you. Enjoy!
Literacy: This week we are going to practise our reading. Look at the sheet below. Don't worry if you can't print it.
Look at the picture. Talk about what is in the picture. Look at the sentence. Are there any words you know (high frequency words)? Point to each word and say the word as you read it. Say each sound in the word for the words you don't know. e.g p - e - n, then put the sounds together - pen. Once you know all the words, read the sentence again.
Make your own set of memory cards to play with. Draw different pictures of 6, 7 or 8 things on paper. It can be anything that is easy to draw. Cut the cards out. Turn them over. Turn two over at a time. Are they the same? Can you say why they are the same? e.g They are both 8.
Are they different? Can you say why they are different? e.g This one has 6 but the other one has 8.
Choose from one of these videos of YolanDa's Band Jam and learn about the different elements of music such as rhythm and pitch. Join in!

Hello again Reception,
Well done for working so hard again this week!
It has......
Phonics: This is the last lesson looking at words ending in s. Watch the video and join in with Josh. You will also need some paper and a pencil to write with.
Writing: Keep practising your handwriting. Follow the direction of the arrows. Use your magic writing finger at first, don't stop writing until you finish the letter. Next, try writing it on paper. We are going to practise some more letters from the zig zag family. We have practised these before. They are a bit tricky.
Literacy: Enjoy your last day of making up a story. You don't need to draw or write anything. Just tell a story.
Find different ways to make 8. You could draw a ladybird like the one below or get two plates. Get 8 buttons or pennies. Find different ways to make 8. Practise saying what you have made - eg 7 and 1 make 8 altogether, 6 and 2 make 8 altogether etc Did you find them all?
Well done for working so hard again this week. You are doing so well. Do something you enjoy on your own or with your family - do some junk modelling (make something out of old cereal or tissue boxes or anything you might recycle), go outside for a walk, do a puzzle, play with your toys, do some cooking, draw a picture, dance to some music.
Good morning Reception,
I hope you are still keeping safe and well. Here is your learning for today:
bred (bread) apls (apples)
Phonics: We are still looking at words ending in s. Watch the video and join in with Josh. You will also need some paper and a pencil to write with.
Writing: Keep practising your handwriting. Follow the direction of the arrows. Use your magic writing finger at first, don't stop writing until you finish the letter. Next, try writing it on paper. We are going to start practising zig zag letters. We have practised these letters before. Go over the zig zag pattern first before you trace the letters.
Literacy: Here is a new idea for a story that you can make up. You don't need to draw or write anything. Just tell the story.
How can you make 7? Draw a rectangle domino shape on paper. Or get 2 separate plates. Get 7 buttons or pennies. Move the buttons or pennies to both sides of the domino or onto each plate to make 7 in different ways. Have you found all the possible ways?
R.E. Last week we looked at the Presentation story from the Bible. Can you remember any parts of the story? Who took Jesus to the temple? (Mary and Joseph) Who did they meet when they got there? (Anna and Simeon)
Can you remember what Simeon said about Jesus? He said Jesus is the Light of the World. Make a cardboard candle out of a toilet roll or paper towel roll. Decorate the toilet roll. Cut out some flame shapes from paper and colour them in orange, or you could use orange paper or tissue paper if you have any. Stick them to the top of the toilet roll. You could write the word Jesus down the front of the candle. Display the candle in a special place. It reminds us that Jesus is a very important light in our lives and in our hearts.

A clock, a playing card, a door number. You could also listen to the story 'Six Dinner Sid'. see the video below. How many times is 6 mentioned in the story?
Did you look at any of the webcams from the zoo yesterday? Which animals did you see?
Do you know the story 'Dear Zoo' by Rod Campbell? It is all about searching for a new pet by writing to the zoo to ask for one. If you could have any pet from a zoo what would it be? What would you ask for? The story goes - I wrote to the zoo to send me a pet. They sent me a ...... Draw a picture of what you would ask the zoo for. Can you write the animal's name underneath? Find out any information you can about the animal - What does it eat? Where does it live? How does it move? What are its babies called?

Good morning Reception, Did you guess the name of the month? That's right, it's February. February has 28 days. If you have a calendar, you could mark off each day when you get up in the morning. Try to say why something won't fit e.g It won't fit because it is too long/ too large. How many things can you fit in your box/container. Count them. Did you fit more than 12? In 'This is Owl' there was a baby owl. Do you know what a baby owl is called? It is called an owlet. Watch the video below to find out the names of some baby animals. How many did you know already? Did any surprise you? Log on to Purple Mash - I have pinned a topic called Baby Animals to the top of your screen. Click on the picture of the baby chick to explore the activities about baby animals. |
