Wow! I cannot believe it is nearly the summer holidays. What a fabulous year it has been. Shall we recap?
We have done lots of counting...
Lots of creating...
Lots of writing...
Lots of investigating...
And we have had lots of fun!
But the hard work is not over just yet. This week you have your final home learning timetable jam packed with lots of fun activities. You will also find a range of tasks below to keep up with over summer. These will help prepare you for your move from infants to juniors!
Continue to read on MyON!
MyOn will be accessible to you ALL summer. Aim to read 20+ minutes a day. Use the 'browse' section of your library to find some of the weird and wonderful book categories including unexplained mysteries and inventions.
Keep up with TTRS!
Please continue to practice your 2, 5 and 10 times tables. These will come in super handy in Year 3 and beyond.
PurpleMash games!
You will find a HUGE range of mathematical games and activities on PurpleMash. Revise your knowledge of addition, subtraction, fractions, shape, time and more! Use the 'mathematics' button on the home page to find the topics above.
Oracy
Keep up to date with current news by watching/reading Newsround reports regularly. Report back to family or friends and tell them what you have discovered.
Spelling
Can you read these words? Can you say these words? Can you spell these words? Please continue to practice READING, SPEAKING and SPELLING the first 100, and then 200 high frequency words for KS1.
Of course the number of the week is 3. And it really is a magic number! But what can you tell me about the number 3?
Can you double it? What does it look like written as a word? Can you use it in an addition sentence? What is 3 x 5? What about 3 x 10?
A big well done to this weeks MyON superstars! Gold stars all around.

Keep up all of the great work Year 2. I am super proud and miss you all very much. Stay safe Miss McKenna❤️
BRAIN TEASER This week, your challenge is to spot the Queen amongst all of these cheeky corgis! Don't let the hats and crowns fool you, she's hiding in there somewhere.. Reading at home - MyON You should all now have your MyON log ins! MyON is our new online library service. Instead of taking a book from our classroom book shelf using your ZPD, you can simply read one at home! I suggest reading a book from the ‘recommended’ section of the library page as these will suit your ZPD, but do explore the webpage! There are new books added regularly and I encourage you to read a mixture of both fiction and non-fiction. I can log in to see what books you have read and how much time you have spent reading. I will be giving gold stars on the blog next week for those who are reading daily for 20-30+ minutes! ⭐⭐⭐ NUMBER OF THE WEEK What can you tell me about the number... What is half of 18? Can you use 18 in an addition number sentence? How would it look as an array? What is 1 more? How about 1 less? Can you double it? Click on one of the ripplers in the middle of the screen. This will allow your sounds to play on repeat. Then start experimenting! Use the sound buttons from the tabs at the top and drag them into place. I suggest using sounds from 'synths' and 'samples'. If you would like to hear your beat over, simply press the blue square button in the bottom right corner to stop the recording. The green triangle will allow you to play it over! BRAIN TEASER I haven't forgotten Year 2! This week I have a bit of a riddle for you.. The answer will be revealed in next weeks blog. Week 2 brain teaser answer:
Some of you may have realised I tricked you. There are actually two possible answers. The hexagon has 6 sides and 6 vertices. The pentagon has 5 sides and 5 vertices. The square has 4 sides and 4 vertices. Therefore, the next shape in the pattern must have one less side/vertex than the square… A TRIANGLE. Your answer could have been A or B. That is all for now.
